With Wimbledon 2011 almost upon us, the annual hype is building for Andy Murray to become the first Brit to win the Mens Singles title since Fred Perry in 1936. Murray’s Mound will be bursting at the seams tomorrow as the Scot sets out on his quest to follow up his recent win in the Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club.
Bookies can’t decide a favourite this year, with the usual suspects Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal both trading around the 2/1 mark. Murray is a best-priced 6/1 shot with Betfred and William Hill, which is pretty short odds considering the dominance of the top two in this tournament. Murray has been drawn in the same section as Nadal, so if the big Scotsman is to make the Final he’s going to have to really be at the peak of his game before the deciding match of the tournament.
If you are wary of Murray but fancy one of the other players then Victor Chandler may be the place to bet. They have come up with a great money-back special where if either Andy Murray or Womens’ World No 1 Caroline Wozniacki win their respective Wimbledon singles titles, VCbet will refund all losing tournament outright bets as a free bet up to £100.
